Renters Rights Act 2025

Don’t miss the deadline: 31 May 2026

The Renters Rights Act 2025 came into force on 1 May 2026 and it doesn’t just apply to new tenancies, it affects many existing tenancies.

Landlords are reminded to provide tenants with one of the following by 31 May 2026:

  • The Government’s Renters Rights Act Information Sheet 2026. This applies to tenancies that are partly or wholly in writing.
  • A written statement setting out key terms of the tenancy. This applies to oral tenancies.

Non-compliant landlords may face a penalty of up to £7,000, so we urge landlords to take action now, ahead of the deadline. Get in touch: if you would like advice or assistance, please contact Emma Wiltshire and Andy Hambleton who have a wealth of experience in Landlord and Tenant matters
