Employment Claims Pricing

We are able to provide advice and representation to employees or employers in relation to the bringing and defending of claims before the Employment Tribunal for unfair or wrongful dismissal.

  • Our fees are likely to be in the region of £10,000 to £20,000 plus VAT to pursue a claim through to and including a final hearing
  • This estimate is just an average price based on recent instructions; the actual cost to you will depend on a number of factors which we will discuss with you if you decide to instruct us.  For example, costs may be more if any interim applications are submitted or if further hearings are required
  • It is worth noting that it is rare for a case to reach a final hearing.  It is more common that cases settle before through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) such as mediation, negotiation or ACAS Early Conciliation

  • In some cases certain disbursements will also be payable.  These are fees and charges we will need to pay on your behalf as part of the process, such as Tribunal or Court fees, counsel’s fees, and expert witness fees.  For example, Counsel’s fees could be an additional £2,000 – £6,000 plus VAT to advise and represent you at the final hearing.  This of course depends on the seniority of Counsel instructed and the length of the hearing
  • As a general rule, costs are not recoverable in the Employment Tribunal.  If court proceedings are pursued, it may be possible to recover legal costs
  • We understand the stress and urgency involved in dealing with employment matters.
